The Fjord Path winds its way through most of the Frederikssund area – and even farther afield. There are four ferry crossings on the way.
Planners of the route gave priority to traffic safety and proximity to the coast and there are many spots where the water is so close that you can enjoy a sea view and a sea breeze as you walk or cycle along the path. The route follows existing roads through fields and woods but new stretches have also been built. In places, a footpath branches off and follows the actual coastline.
The Fjord Path passes through rolling countryside, idyllic villages and towns such as Frederikssund and Roskilde. It takes you past churches, manor houses,

water mills and lots of other interesting sights. It also makes a small detour to the island of Orø in the Isefjord.
All along the route, there are places where you can spend the night. If you don’t mind primitive conditions you can opt for a low-price nature camping site – but there are
other options too.
At the Frederikssund Tourist Information Centre you’ll find a series of folders about different stretches of the Fjord Path. They combine a description of the route with information about the things you’ll see along your way.
The 7 folders about the Fjord Path are:
