Every summer from the end of June to the beginning of July it’s Viking Time in Frederikssund and has been since 1952 when the first Viking play was performed.
Over 250 adults and children put on their Viking costumes every evening to take part in an open-air drama based on the dramatic tales of the Viking Age. The enthusiastic citizens who have taken part every summer for more than 50 years have made Frederikssund and Viking mythology known throughout the world.

The Frederikssund Vikings have performed for international audiences and have visited Iceland, Japan, Spain, Scotland, England, Argentina, Syria, Hungary and Poland with specially adapted performances.

The play takes place in the Kalvø Park in the south-west of the town. Here you will also find the Viking settlement, an open-air museum with free admission.
